A universe with no purpose

No score, no goal, no reward. A body eats what it stands on, burns a little to exist, dies at zero, and copies itself with small random changes when it has enough. That is the whole law. What you see below is what the law made.

Connecting…

The universe right now

Pale is energy, dark is empty, coral is where bodies crowd. Energy appears by a hidden rule that started from one seed at the centre.

The only measurement that matters here

Each dead body leaves a nine-number record of how it lived. We keep the record only if it is unlike every record kept before. If this count keeps rising, the universe is still inventing. If it goes flat, it has settled.

Behaviours archived over time.

What the bodies became

Every archived way of living, placed by how it lived. Bright points are the newest. If new points land in empty space, the world found something it did not have.
Births per step. The river of life: wide means the world is rich enough to copy, thin means scarcity.

Three dials the bodies turn themselves

We did not set these. Each one is inherited and mutates. Watch which way the universe pushes them.

Bodies alive. Set by the energy coming in, not by us.
Neurons switched on per brain. Each costs energy; brains grow only where thinking pays.
Mutation rate. Falling toward zero means the world has become too still to reward change.

How to read it honestly

A rising archive is not proof of intelligence. It is proof of variety. The archive measures nine numbers; a richer life could be happening in numbers we do not record. A flat archive is not proof of failure either; the ruler may be too coarse. These limits are written here so they are not discovered later.
